The weather thingy in my FireFox toolbar said that it was clear so I headed back down to BPO to try to see C/2007 F1 (LONEOS) but I found that not to be the case. When I got outside I couldn’t see any stars but figured that might be because of the midtown light-pollution. When I got to BPO the Moon was faintly visible through a veil of clouds. I got out my binocular right away to see if I might be able to find Arcturus through the schmutz but it was even worse over there. I could see streamers of cloud depending from the deck of stratus. When I turned back around the Moon was gone and Jupiter was nowhere to be seen. Tomorrow the comet is supposed to be at its brightest, and there is supposed to be a Columbia University public observing session, so the weather will be worse still. They are saying 100% probablility of precipitation tomorrow night.
