Conditions		It has been raining here for the past 18 hours. Since there is no observing I am going to have to observe what is keeping me from observin'.

The NOAA graphical forecast for today is predicting some significant winds with even more significant gusts (up to around 50 MPH) for the aftermoon. It looks like we could be in for some coastal flooding on Long Island Sound around the times of high tide with the high winds from the NE keeping the previous tide from leaving the sound before the next one arrives. I know NOAA has some warnings posted for the area but haven't checked yet to see what they are for

A check of their fancy color synoptic chart indicates a low pressure system will be passing us today.

The more detailed, but harder to read, black and white western Atlantic synoptic chart does not show the tight pressure gradient we had around the passage of the low over Christmas. I am going to chart this one and see how the two compare.

The observed weather for Central Park shows that they have been having moderate wind with strong gusts for the past 12 hours but it is still dead calm up here in The Bronx.
