It appears that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at NASA. Last night I found on one of their Shuttle splash page that they were going try to launch today at 1609 while the NASA TV page said that no second launch time had been set but that it would be at least 24 hours off. Today the page says the next attempt will take place "no earlier than Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3:43 p.m. EST." My bet is that it will not take place then either. I suspect that the sensor problem which has long plagued the shuttle launches will delay this launch beyond this launch window.
Sunspot group 977 appears to have disappeared but the new group, 978, is large and complex. The weather was lousy today and there was no sun so I didn't get a chance to look for it but the forecast is for it to be better, although windier, tomorrow afternoon so I am hoping to get to count some spots them.
