I couldn’t see them from my observing location, but when I got up on the subway bridge and could see more horizon I could see stratus clouds starting to move in from the west.

The sun just moved into Libra this morning

Sunspot group 921 has gotten larger and appears more complex today than it did yesterday when it was more foreshortened and it looks like there is another spot following it although they may be 0ne large group.

This is a large group of at least three dense spots that is surrounded by a void area. I think there are more spots there but I can’t see them well enough to be certain. I don’t see any penumbra.

This is a small group of what looks like two spots surrounded by a void area. The spots are a little faint right now but look like they will “solidify” when they rotate a little farther onto the disk.

This will be the last of the observing for this month. The kids in my neighborhood have already been throwing eggs this past week in celebration of Halloween so I don’t want to be out late tonight.

Disclaimer
This is my personal record of my astronomical observations. It was written for my personal reference. The only reason it is in a blog is that a blog is a very convenient way to get the records formatted more or less uniformly and they will, hopefully, have greater longevity at Google where the servers are backed up than on my hard drive which never gets backed up. I occasionally include copyrighted material in my posts. I do this to make it convenient for me to access things I think I might want to refer to again. I think of this like making a photocopy of something I read that I put in a file where I can find it when I want it. As I understand copyright law, as explained in the DVD series Copyright Compliance by Chip Taylor Communications, this use is allowed under the Fair Use doctrine since I am not making any money on this blog, I don’t publicize the blog, and only occasionally post small excerpts of copyrighted works.
