We had a blizzard here on Sunday, the 12th. Around here I measured 16.25" of undrifted snow. Today it was 55°F in Central park and there is bare ground showing in areas open to the sun and in more protected areas there is less than 6" of snow left. The only place there is significant snow is where it has been plowed into mounds, like at crosswalks. I started documenting the conditions reported by the automated weather station at Central Park the way I did on a previous storm. I was only going to include the passage of the low but on the left edge of the chart you can see two days where the temperature followed the classical diurnal pattern, bottoming out just before sunrise and peaking just after noon. So I kept them in the chart and was going to cut it off after the pressure came back up. But then they said it was going to get real warm today so I extended toe chart another day on the tail end. And the pressure is still going up. It is going to make for a small chart once it gets shrunk down to a size to fit in this column.
Now that the storm is over and there is nothing really going on weatherwise you would think there would be a fairly stable flow of data from the weather service but that hasn't been the case. There have been a lot of missed data reports yesterday and today which is why the lines are broken on the right end of the chart. The same reports are missing for LaGuardia airport so it appears that the problem is in the WFO and not at the stations or in their data transmissions.
It is hazy out tonight. The only thing I can see is the Moon shining through the haze. I can tell that it is not round but can't pick out any features on it.
