Today is one of the days when the sun aligns with a side of the Mcgraw-Hill Sun Triangle down in Rockerfeller Center (it happens four times a year). I had hoped to get down there to see it but with mass transit shut down due to the transit strike that isn't going to happen this year.
More information about the McGraw-Hill Sun Triangle
The solstice passed at 1335 EST without anything momentous happening. But now it is officially winter and is supposed to be cold.

Atmospheric Conditions | The transit strike is still in progress.
It looks like CSC got the weather trend right but not the timing.
 Clear Sky Clock graphic
In mid-afternoon it was still sunny and mostly clear but then it clouded up. At 2130 EST it was almost completely overcast with only a few thin stripes of sky showing through the clouds. An hour later the clouds had broken up and a few stars could be seen through the holes but it wasn't really transparent. |
