NW quadrant. Still the most complex group but the spots appear to be shrinking. I did not detect a penumbra but the entire group was surrounded by a void area.
788
SW quadrant. This is one spot surrounded by a void area but too small for me to detect a penumbra.
789
SE quadrant. Each spot making up 789 appeared to have its own void area surrounding it.

CommentsI observed the Moon while waiting for the HBO movie to start in Bryant park. The following description was a recommended observation from Universe Today:
Tonight on the lunar surface, aim your binoculars or telescope towards the south shore of Mare Nectaris where we will examine ruined crater Fracastorius. To lower power, this will be a delicate, almost bay-like feature softly outlined in white. This is all that remains of a once-great crater as the lava flow from the mare filled it in. To its southern edge, the old walls still rise, but much of the north border is completely obliterated. If you examine it telescopically, you will see that the north has been reduced to a low series of ridges and craterlets, yet in binoculars it still gives the illusion of a complete ring.

I was able to see Fracastorius as described above. I have previously observed this crater in Peter's 10" and know that the upper right portion of the wall is broken down.

CommentsI observed Jupiter briefly as the movie was starting and only noted one moon on the left side of the planet although there should have been three there andone to the right.

Disclaimer
This is my personal record of my astronomical observations. It was written for my personal reference. The only reason it is in a blog is that a blog is a very convenient way to get the records formatted more or less uniformly and they will, hopefully, have greater longevity at Google where the servers are backed up than on my hard drive which never gets backed up. I occasionally include copyrighted material in my posts. I do this to make it convenient for me to access things I think I might want to refer to again. I think of this like making a photocopy of something I read that I put in a file where I can find it when I want it. As I understand copyright law, as explained in the DVD series Copyright Compliance by Chip Taylor Communications, this use is allowed under the Fair Use doctrine since I am not making any money on this blog, I don’t publicize the blog, and only occasionally post small excerpts of copyrighted works.
