Hazy, Hot and Humid. The temperature was near 90º again today. I could see the haze lit up in front of the sun while I was making my observations. When I got done dinner there were some thin stratus clouds in the area.

CommentsGroup 776 continues to develop and I think 775 may be a little bigger today also. SpaceWeather.com says 776 may be a solar flare threat soon. The SOHO image shows two sunspots still there for group 774 but they are too small for me to detect them with hand held binoculars.
772
This southern hemisphere group is moving to the leading limb and will soon start to exhibit foreshortening. It is the only group that had a complete void ring around it.
773
The trailing spot of this group has a penumbra around it. It is near the meridian in the southern hemisphere.
775
I could detect a bit of a void around the leading edge of the group but not on the side closer to the limb where granularity is supposed to be more easily observed. The larger of the two spots is surrounded by a penumbra and the smaller spot is sitting on the edge of that penumbra.
776
This is still a complex group. The leading spots are large and surrounded by a penumbra. The trailing spots appear to be more like penumbra than spots. The trailing spots were surrounded by a void ring but I did not detect one around the leading spots

I forgot to label east again. It is to the left as usual.

Disclaimer
This is my personal record of my astronomical observations. It was written for my personal reference. The only reason it is in a blog is that a blog is a very convenient way to get the records formatted more or less uniformly and they will, hopefully, have greater longevity at Google where the servers are backed up than on my hard drive which never gets backed up. I occasionally include copyrighted material in my posts. I do this to make it convenient for me to access things I think I might want to refer to again. I think of this like making a photocopy of something I read that I put in a file where I can find it when I want it. As I understand copyright law, as explained in the DVD series Copyright Compliance by Chip Taylor Communications, this use is allowed under the Fair Use doctrine since I am not making any money on this blog, I don’t publicize the blog, and only occasionally post small excerpts of copyrighted works.
